The Words Encouraging Us This Season

Three things many of us are experiencing during this pandemic are panic, isolation and shame. And you know what? These are actually the primary feelings for so many women facing unintended pregnancy. Together, we’ve been reaching out to them for years, and now, in some way, we can relate to their experience.

The answer for us, just like for them, is the radical grace of Jesus, extended through His Church. So, at a time where we’re keenly aware of our need for grace, but can’t “be with” our church like we normally are for Holy Week, we are sending the grace and peace of Jesus to you virtually.

Take a minute, wherever you are. Quiet your mind and deepen your breath. Take as long as you would like to mediate on these words and visualize them in your mind:

We extend the Grace of Jesus to you:

God said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for my [abundant, miraculous] power is made perfect in weakness [feebleness of body or mind].’ 2 Corinthians 12:9

We extend the Peace of Jesus to you:

The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing…And so, I can relax.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters…And so. I can relax.
He refreshes my soul…And so, I can relax.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake…And so, I can relax.
Even though I walk through the darkest valley,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me…And so, I can relax.
Your rod and your staff, they comfort me…And so, I can relax.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies…And so, I can relax.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows…And so I can relax.
Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever…And so, I can relax.

This is what Christ died and rose again to bring us. May you rest in the experience of His grace and peace this week, regardless of circumstances.
